How To Be A Morning Person

I’m not going to sugar coat this. Becoming a morning person will not be an easy task. It will  be a lifelong mission since old habits are easy to fall into but will be worth it.

I have become a morning person in my adult years. Yes, I’m only 24 but it’s so much better than when I would stay up late and have to get up early and feel rushed.  I no longer set an alarm, my internal clock wakes me up between 5 and 6. Sleeping in, for me, is now waking up at 7.

How to be a Morning Person!

1. Plan an amazing breakfast.

Please dont settle for a breakfast  bar or granola bar. And please dont think coffee is enough for the day. Plan a nutritious breakfast. My favorite is a smoothie with lots of greens. My smoothies consist of 1 1/2 cups of colorful fruit, 6 cups of spinach, and 3 cups of kale. I use water or almond milk as my liquid in my smoothie.  Yes, I drink this  every morning.

On mornings I feel like I need something extra, I make a veggie omelette.  Can you tell I love vegetables?

I still drink coffee. Not for the caffeine, but because I love the flavor of coffee. I also like to drink 1 liter of water before I go to work. I drink a gallon of water everyday. It has help me stay full throughout the day and my skin doesn’t get as dry.

2. Move your body!


I do yoga in the morning. I have major heat sensitivity and yoga doesn’t warm my body up to much. When I get hot my body starts to shut down. So yoga has become my way to continue to exercise.

Find your favorite way to exercise and do it in the morning. Then there will be no excuse of being too tired after work to exercise.

3. Pick a better alarm.


Please do not wake up to an annoying alarm. Pick your favorite song or a cheerful tune! The are some great alarm apps out there. Look through them on your app store and find the one that works for you.

4. Go to bed and wake up at the same time everyday!


Yes, even on weekends. I get it you want to go out on weekends but keeping your body on the same sleep cycle will help you in the long run. My doctors have always told me to pick a time and go to be within an hour of it everyday. That includes waking up within an hour of the same time every day. So if you wake up at 6 during the weekdays you should not sleep past 7 on weekends.

This is the hardest for people. Like I said earlier I cannot sleep past 7 anymore. But I do not regret it either.

5. Get ready for the day everyday.


As soon as I put makeup on I feel more awake. It may sound crazy but I makes me feel like I’m ready for whatever life throws at me that day. I like to put on music, have a dance party and get ready.

6. Do something you love!


I love to cook and bake. I tend to start writing a recipe in the morning. My best ideas are planned early in the morning. At night my head is overwhelmed from the day and all I want to do is relax.

This morning, I woke up at 5:30 craving Peanut Butter Balls that my babysitter would make. They are easy, only 3 ingredients, a healthy dessert, and only three ingredients. The recipe will be up tomorrow!!
