Instagram Hashtags That Will Double Your Likes!

When I first started Instagram I thought that pictures would be enough. Not knowing that people would not be able to find my photos without using the beloved Instagram hashtags. So, what did I do? I went back to my school roots and researched. I filled up a notebook trying to find the best hashtags for bloggers and creative marketing and came up with a list of useful hashtags and how to use them.

Why Should you use Instagram hashtags?

Instagram is a completely free marketing tool that is just sitting there waiting for you. You can gain a following and that following will soon want to know more about you or the products you are selling and click the link that takes them to your website. When you use the right hashtags these things can happen:

Your Instagram will grow ORGANICALLY!

People with the same likes and ideas will find you. Let’s just go with the cliche quote “If you build it, they will come.” Focus on great pictures and captions while implementing hashtags and your Instagram will grow.

You can get ideas

Finding people with the same interests has never been easier. You can search a hashtag that speaks to you and your interests to find new people to follow on Instagram.

Track your hashtags

Are you hosting a giveaway? Wanting people to post pictures based on a product of yours? Using hashtags is an easy way to keep track!

How do you use Instagram hashtags?

My Instagram following grew from around 50 followers to almost 500 in 6 weeks. To some that might not be a lot but I grew my following organically and with that grew higher interaction.  I have looked at countless Instagram accounts that use the follow for a follow method and learned that my interactions matched their mass following or that I had more.  So, with that said, my advice to you is to go ahead and skip the follow for a follow method altogether. Here is how I use Instagram hashtags.

You are allowed to use 30 hashtags per post. I would recommend using at least 15 per post but I tend to use the full 30. To not annoy people with the long list of hashtags after my caption I make a few spaces by hitting return and placing a period at least 4 times.

I have a list of hashtags that I use on every post and then I add other hashtags in the category that best represents the picture.

Instagram Hashtags

Here is my list of hashtags that I use on every post:

#flashesofdelight #thehappynow #livethelittlethings #pursuepretty #theeverydayproject #makeyousmilestyle #thatsdarling #photosinbetween #soloverly #bandofun #abmlifeiscolorful #myunicornlife #candyminimal #handsinframe #theeverygirl #peoplescreative #visualcrush #Bloggervibes

You may copy and paste this list all you would like. I would recommend keeping a list of hashtags on your phone so that way you can easily insert them into your next post!

  1. These are all amazing tips! Since starting to use more hashtags my following has been growing constantly!
I hate the follow to unfollow method and I never use it!

  2. Great suggestions. Do you find it helpful to interact with others using the same hashtags? How did you decide you should commit to the ones you have? – I do have a similar method, but never know if I should create brand new collections or not.

  3. Amazing post & very informative! I like that you use certain hashtags in every post, I’m always changing it up with every post which can be tedious. Thanks for sharing!

  4. This is incredibly helpful – thank you for taking the time to put this together! I agree that organic growth is truly the way to go; you want to engage with people who actually like and could benefit from your content – that’s the whole point! Definitely going to start incorporating some of these beauty hashtags into our posts to help engage with more beauty lovers who may be interested in our brand. Awesome work! 🙂

  5. Thanks for this. I use many of these myself. I think if you don’t use hashtags you are missing out on engagement for sure. Great list saving this for sure.

  9. Thank you so much for this!! I really need to find the hashtags that will give my posts the most visibility throughout the day. I feel mine get lost in the seas of Instagram posts!

  10. i’ve been changing it up recently to see what works. these suggestions are great and i have some i’ll be trying out…thanks for sharing these!

  11. Thank you for doing this because I am having a time trying to find the right hashtags for my posts. Definitely pinning this to my Blogging Tips board!

  12. I love this list! I’ve been trying to create a list that consistently works for me, but i feel like the ones i chose are a little out of reach (like I’m probably not at a place with my photography yet to be chosen for F52grams). The food and travel tags are super helpful 🙂

  13. What a thorough list! I’ve been learning a little bit about how hashtags can help with growing instagram, but I know I need to step up my game! It would be nice to see a somewhat faster growth, although, like you, I think it’s really important to grow social media followings organically.

  14. Love all those hashtags! I’ve got a list of ones I use for different occasions but you shared a bunch I don’t use, i’ll have to try them out!

I do find it useful to interact with other people with the same interests as you. They are more likely to check out your page! I switch it depending on what I am posting. I made this list based on different categories that I post on since I have never been good at sticking to one thing!

I’ve found hashtags to be invaluable! I’m beginning to analyze which ones work the best now to increase followers. Great tips!

  18. Thank you for sharing this. IG is a tricky animal, and I was very frustrated with it at first. I absolutely HATE all the people who follow you, then unfollow you later (hoping you won’t notice). I’ve stopped following back the people that have a really large number of followers vs. the number of people they are following, because they are the ones that do this.

Having said that, I have found that using hashtags to search similar interests, then genuinely commenting on their photos, has tremendously increased my following. I started 3 months ago with 12 followers, and have grown my following to 3,000 just by doing this. And my followers interact with me. I have truly been enriched by the comments and messages from the people in my IG fam.

Anyway–sorry for the long post. Just wanted to blather on and on in order to tell you that YOU’RE RIGHT 🙂

  19. These are some really cool and playful hashtags. I’ll try to incorporate them into my next set of posts. Thanks for sharing!

  20. I’ve also started the use of more hashtags in my post. And I have to agree, I see a significant difference. Within a few minutes of posting, I could easily get 50 likes on my posts. There are some here that I haven’t used. I will add them to my list!

  21. Very handy little list. I have pinned it so that I can use it again when I use the gram next. 🙂 I struggled to get to 100, it felt like it took ages, but now that I have been using relevant hashtags and engaging with other grammers I have gone up to almost 350 in a couple of weeks.

  22. These are great hashtag suggestions! Instagram is my favorite social media platform, and using hashtags is such a great way to boost your following the “right” way. I’ve noticed a similar increase in followers with my more fashion-focused hashtags. Thanks for sharing!

  23. yes! using hashtags is essential to growing organically. this whole “like for like” “follow for follow” then they unfollow you 🙁 is so laaaame. i’m always looking for new hashtags to try so i expand my reach and i find other accounts that I may be missing!

  24. Oh this is lovely. So many bloggers won’t share their strategy and success. Hashtags need to be changed around every once in a while and it is so refreshing to find new ones people like you will share. Thanks so much!! I’ll see you on instagram! I’m @tarateaspoon

  25. These are great! I have a list saved in my phone of relevant hashtags and I use them every post! I’ve gone from around 250 to 1200 in less than a month! It takes work but it’s worth it!

  26. Great post! I have been reading up a lot on IG so I can enjoy it more. It boggles the mind how people follow me… wait to see if I follow back then unfollow. I would have had 3000 followers by now if I stalked everyone that stalked me at some point… lol! But then I would never see anything I am on there to see. I am learning to love #hashtags and I even have a whole stamp set of them! You can find me at nicolewrightdesigns if you want to check out all my crafty things 🙂 I have pinned your post! Thanks for the info 😉

  27. This is such a helpful post!I am a beauty/mom/lifestyle blogger, so I change up my hashtags depending on what category I am posting for that day, There were definitely some on here I didn’t know about – thank you for sharing!

  28. I use half of the hashtags you use on all your photos and I agree that they work! I’m going to add some of the ones you listed – thanks for putting this together! 🙂

  29. Great tips! Hashtags are definitely the key to Instagram. I have had good success using very specific hashtags too, that target my niche.

  30. This is perfect! I’m always looking for new hashtags to use! I’m glad to hear about your growth && btw the organic way is so much better! You tend to make what I like to call internet friends!

  31. This post is awesome. I have a set few I regularly use, but I sometimes struggle depending on the post. Definitely pinning this for later!

  32. Such a useful list! I have accumulated quite the list for travel related hashtags, but I never really know what hashtags to use for lifestyle and other random posts. Thanks for sharing

  33. Southern & Style

I definitely just added this to my blogging Pinterest board, I’ve been working so hard on my insta game but it just feels like I’m in a rut with likes and followers, even though I feel like I’m really killing it with my content!
